Hope everybody had a fantastic and relaxing Summer Break! Now that everybody has settled into the Fall Quarter, Forest Fire is here to shake you out of the daily grind. There have been too many amazing events in Orange County, to let our blog posting and calendar lasped. The Forest Fire blog staff is here to keep you updated on the coolest events around UCI and Orange County.
Acrobatics Everyday is UCI organization created by Sam Farzin to bring live performances to UCI. Last Saturday night Acrobatics Everyday presented Ponytail @ Phoneix Grill. Unfornatuely I was not there. I have thought of five reasons why you need to be at every Acrobatics Everyday show this Fall, so I will remeber not to miss another show.
1. All Ages - Every Acrobatics Everyday show is all ages. I only know of couple of all ages venues in Orange County. Waiting till your 21 to you get see all your favorite bands at best venues can seem like eons, Arcrobatics Everyday shows can lessen your pain.
2. Eclectic Lineup - What kind of music do you like? From the world music of Chirgilchin to dance music of Dan Deacon to the pop the Mae Shi to the folk of PWRFL Power, Acrobatics Everyday has you covered.
3. Value - The shows are in your backyard, right here on UCI campus. No longer do you need to have debates with your friends about who is driving up to LA. Just walk out of your dorm and across campus. The majority of Acrobatics Everyday shows have been $10 dollars. No longer do you need to shell out an extra $20 for venue fees and Ticketmaster charges.
4. A Unique Experience - From intimate acoustic sets in Aldrich Park, to renegade performances on roof of the parking structures, Acrobatics Everyday puts on shows you will not see anywhere else. Dan Deacon had listeners running around the venue like it was there twelfth birthday party. After another show members of Mae Shi played a game of tag football.
5. New Friends - I don't know where else at UCI you going to meet such chill/amazing/beautiful/fun/creative people all in one place.
The next Acrobatics Everyday show is Q&A session with musician Ian McKaye on Tuesday, October 21, 7:30pm @ Humanites Hall 178 $5. For more information about upcoming Acrobatics Everyday shows visit their website. And always keep your eyes peeled on the Forest Fire Calendar.

Los Angeles, I'm Yours
Here are the L.A. shows I'm looking forward to (but will never be able to attend all) in the summer and fall. Until Orange County expands past The Detroit Bar (I'm not 21 yet), Plush Lab (the kind of bands I like play only occasionally), OCCCA (not good for when I want to see big-name acts) and Sol Art (not good when I want to hear something loud and danceable), I'm sticking to L.A. for live music.
