So my daily Rolling Stone E-mail digest usually turns out to be a fruitless endeavor, only keeping me up to date on the newest Van Halen tour and some crap about Amy Winehouse being in rehab. A real snorefest, I know. But sometimes, the very last part of the newsletter provides interesting information, like who's playing on which late night show. Tonight's list was littered with people I know nothing about, except for two: Tay Zonday and Feist.
Now, I've had my share of Chocolate Rain, but I can never get enough of our Canadian songstress. This woman can make music, not just talk about "dirty secrets of economy." But I digress. To avoid mentioning reruns (which are common during the summer), I usually check my sources about these performances. However, I was pleasantly surprised to see that not only was this appearance new, but it didn't include Ms. Feist by herself!
According to my sometimes-friend/sometimes-enemy Pitchfork Media, Leslie Feist will be accompanied by the likes of Kevin Drew and Brendan Canning (of Broken Social Scene); The National's Aaron Dessner, Bryan Devendorf and Scott Devendorf; Nicole Atkins; Carl Newman (of the New Pornographers); both Mates of State and all of Grizzly Bear. Pitchfork's interview with Ed Droste of Grizzly Bear says the group will be performing "1234".
In lieu of having nothing else interesting to say, I will also add that Feist will be doing a short east coast tour before heading off for Europe to play a string of dates there.
For those who don't watch much television, Letterman is on at 11:30 on CBS. Make sure to watch out for the last 30 minutes or so of the show, where the musical guests close out the episode. If you don't own a television but have a computer (you'd be surprised at how many college students are in this position), I'm sure the performance will be on Youtube before the end of the week.
